WomenForTech, an initiative of the Fundación Finnova, once again joins the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which takes place tomorrow, February 11, reaffirming its commitment to promoting female talent and encouraging scientific and technological vocations from an early age.
Under the motto “Support for Innovation, Creation of Disruptive Projects, and Public Partnerships Focused on Women”, WomenForTech works to support innovation, the creation of disruptive projects, and the development of public-private partnerships with a strong focus on women and girls. This initiative was created with the aim of reducing the gender gap in strategic fields such as science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Through WomenForTech, support for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is channelled via a wide range of projects and initiatives promoted by Fundación Finnova, many of which are technology-based and focused on scientific knowledge transfer, social innovation, and the development of solutions aligned with European challenges. These projects include dedicated spaces designed to promote and showcase women-led initiatives and to encourage women’s and girls’ access to opportunities in STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).
February 11 is a key date to celebrate and reinforce support for girls who aspire to pursue careers in science and technology, sectors in which they remain underrepresented. In this context, WomenForTech highlights the importance of acting from an early age by providing role models, training, mentoring, and real opportunities to participate in innovative projects.
A clear example of this long-standing commitment is the established collaboration over many years with Technovation Girls CV, an international initiative aimed at fostering STEAM skills among girls and adolescents through technology and social entrepreneurship. Through this partnership, Fundación Finnova and WomenForTech actively contribute to inspiring new generations of girls to become future leaders, scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, WomenForTech reaffirms its commitment to continuing to support projects that promote equal opportunities, innovation with a gender perspective, and the active participation of women and girls in building a more sustainable, inclusive, and knowledge-based future.
